A number on one of the government building in Cairo near the airport points to total Egyptian population of 86m.

Statisticians say these 86m live on 10% of the land (1m km squared), that’s to say 86m live on 100k km squared.

Accordingly in an equally likely ‘fair’ world, roughly each person (0.86 of a person to be exact) lives on a space of 1 meter squared. Imagine yourself moving in a space equivalent to your foot step 😄

But life isn’t ‘fair’ like it isn’t anywhere in the world. So some get more than their ‘fair market share’ and some get even less?

In order to get more space to live in, some tend to act ‘fairly’ and earn said space by working hard for it in a ‘fair play’. Others play all kinds of games to earn as little as a tiny small centimeter extra.

And that’s life; an ongoing battle between the forces of ‘fair’ players and the ‘all-kinds-of-games” players.

The interesting part comes when both teams switch places 😄 as mostly a player cannot be ‘by construction’ a life-time ‘fair’ player and same goes for the ‘all-kinds-of-games” players?

This normally happens under some pressure or based on some misleading facts. So get rid of your weakness spots so that you’re not pressured and verify before making decisions so that you may remain who you are for the longest time-span possible 😄 if you want, of course!

Developing Tourism in Egypt? Kiss my ass!

Posted: September 13, 2013 in Tourism

Since a long time We’ve seen a lot of Egyptian ministers and government officials traveling here and there in order to meet with tour operators, hold press conferences in major trade shows around the word, participate in mega marketing campaign promoting tourism to Egypt from key European markets -

Yet none of these have made any success in putting some pressure on other ministries like Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Transport, etc… in order to develop the country’s infrastructure! For instance, in Paris there are 14 underground lines other than fast trains – Cairo, to the contrary, there are I think only 2 underground lines! A nice fun fact is that Cairo’s total number of inhabitants is +/- 18 million which happens to be by mere coincidence the same number of inhabitants of the Australian continent…

In all major European cities, there is a train station inside the airports that will take you then to different destinations. In Cairo there isn’t… In the matter of fact, if you ever thought of going from Cairo to Hurgahda over the weekend, you’ll have to be a victim of the monopoly prices of Egypt Air that will charge you mostly USD 200 per round trip ticket. While if you live in London and decide to go to Paris over the weekend, you’d pay for the air ticket a price as low as USD 100 round trip!

As if Egyptians income is far much better than the Londoners’?

It’s actually about corruption and protecting that corruption! A national company like Egypt Air that imposes exclusivity for Cairo skies does’t share with Egyptians, the stakeholders of the company – its financial statements according to the MB Minister of Civil Aviation statement before the ouster of the former President Morsi. Implying a huge loss certainly…

So Egypt Air loses money although there is no competition in Cairo, the country’s major airport! What about if there is some competition? Definitely Egypt Air will be bankrupted within a month or so… What kind of an infrastructure is this for developing tourism to a country with such beautiful long coasts on both the Red and Mediterranean Seas, not to mention the store of more than 1/3 of the world’s monuments!

In the matter of fact, officials of Egypt Air are not only able to compete but they are also spending money on satellite worldwide offices that are said to be a massive cut of the company’s expense!

The Egyptian revolution called for freedom among other things and one of the aspects of freedom is that people get to choose a government that they believe is honest, straight-forward and able to resolve Egyptians’ problems. Consecutive Egyptian governments never looked at new ways to tackle in order to make things better! It’s always the same old way… As if no one of them knew about Einstein’s famous saying: “madness is to do the same thing over and over again expecting different results” – As if no one of them travelled and saw other more civilized countries and the capabilities of other nations. As if no one of them had the slightest hope that if he/ she starts something today perhaps somebody will come later on to build on it and the country develops and moves forward…

If there is an open skies policy in Cairo, Egypt Air will definitely suffer big time. And this is a golden opportunity I believe to restructure the company and put it on track to be able to compete with major regional and international airlines. Competition also is always in the interest of the potential buyers who will then find a number of options for flying within the country from its capital major airport. Hence will be able to pick up the price? The quality? Or perhaps both if an airline provides so…

However – continuing like this will benefit only those people with fat monthly paychecks and make them even richer! In the interim, businesses in remote locations will continue to suffer and be dependent to charter flights from European countries – So eventually when these stop like right now… Their businesses also stops! And their employees are sent home for a chill…

My late grandfather has once told me when we were traveling by train from Cairo is that the Egyptian railways have been constructed by the British during the time of occupation! I didn’t pay a lot of attention to this piece of information at the time. But now, I think of this and say – Why the heck did we not supplement this network with new lines to other different cities across the country? Why did we wait and wait until the population is now 90 millions and all of us live on less than 10% of the land? But most importantly why don’t we even start now so that in 10/ 20 years time, our children will not have to ask the same questions?

Developing the Egyptian infrastructure is actually is not only in the benefit of hotels, travel agencies and those who make a living from tourism… It’s a facility that all industries will benefit of like for like! Redistributing the population and making use of the land God blessed us!

Then and only then, tourism could really develop to the better. What it takes is not money/ funds for the construction of said infrastructure. What it takes is actually the will of the people to change the facts on the ground and to pave the road for future generations to build on it… What it takes is some good honest competent government officials who make their own decisions rather than always trying to please the boss!  What it takes is the true values of the Egyptian revolution, nothing more…

Obama is responsible of the war in Iraq

Posted: September 13, 2013 in Politics

President Obama visited Cairo in the first 100 days after having been elected President of the United States – and made a lovely long speech in Cairo University. One of those statements President Obama made in his speech was related to the war in Iraq. He clearly said: “The war in Iraq was a war of choice” in the middle of his explanation of the difference between America’s wars in the Moslem regions, in Iraq and in Afghanistan. I was really astonished at the time!

I had taken the day off from work as Cairo was said to be totally blocked for security. President Obama and the then Secretary of State Hilary Clinton had an intense over-day schedule not to only speech in the Cairo University but also to visit the then  President Mubarak and the touristic sites Pyramids of Giza and Sultan Hassan Mosque. All of that over day in the 18 million inhabitants’ city of Cairo!

The reason of my astonishment is that the US President clearly implied that the administration headed by former President George W Bush made the wrong choice by going into war in Iraq – As there was no necessity for such an action!

Well – I said to myself how brave? But yet, who then pays the price of wrong choices like these? Isn’t it that with greater power comes greater responsibility? I know the last time I came across President George W Bush on TV, he was playing golf or interviewed by Fox News in some golf playground!

I came back and thought again. Well, President Obama is not accountable for a decision that was mistakenly made by his predecessor! If I were him, I wouldn’t want to be held accountable and certainly anyone in his position must not be! President Obama, however – should definitely take the responsibility to rectify the situation. That’s definitely what I would do and that’s what I think anyone should do. I concluded that President Obama’s confession represented the start of a certain procedure to change facts on the ground. Procedure that take into consideration measures of justice

Then – US troops in Iraq were brought back home.

Then what? 4/5 years later civil war in Syria that caused almost 30’000 dead and some 2 million others leave their country. Very same President now wants to air strike Syrians claiming Syrian government used chemical weapons that killed 1400 people including children. I am sorry these are not numbers, these are human lives and there are more human lives that will end soon after this air strike starts.

Then Human lives are not important are actually of no importance to the US administration! The “National Security” is more important – And what is the “National Security”? I assume it must be the security of the American people – And what difference did the use of chemical weapons do that affected that much the American “National Security”? It doesn’t take a genius to understand that if the effects of these chemical weapons reach Israel then it’s going to be a problem! And the security of Israel is indeed the American “National Security”, obviously…

Okay… Now looking a tittle deeper… How many Jews are there in the US? And what kind of influence do they have on the US administration to the extent of getting the same President to call for an air strike against Syria while he was the same one who pulled out the troops from Iraq and admitted it was a war of choice, not a necessity!

A little deeper and deeper… Are the American troops who are sent to Iraq, Afghanistan and now Syria all Jews? Are they going to fight in Syria based on beliefs they’re protecting/ saving Americans lives?

Truth is President Obama could not take the pressure that the Jewish influence has put on his administration! No US President ever could take that pressure! Truth is Americans suffer every year the same what we Egyptians have suffered when we had a choice between Shafiq and Morsi. Americans almost always go through the same choice. To the Jews it doesn’t matter who to choose since all choices are pressure-ready (in Morsi’s terms) in advance.

If Syrians go into a civil war, it’s not important and does not require American troops in Syria but if chemical weapons are being used then Israel is in danger! So National Security now becomes also important – And definitely American troops have a role to play now… To protect Israel from the danger of chemical weapons. To teach the world that if anyone thinks of using such weapons that Israel cannot handle yet, there will be consequences! So think twice. You can kill your own people but you cannot kill them with chemical weapons…

Truth is President Obama would have gone into war in Iraq same and possibly in more fierce way than former President George W Bush – They’re all a bunch of puppets that are being played around with and the American people are just too busy with their own lives to monitor!
